One of the worst feelings I remember when I worked in corporate was the feeling that I was leaving something behind.

It was the feeling that there was more to life than the life I was living.

And the more I desired wasn’t rooted in more money or more stuff; it was a calling from within.

I didn’t really know what it was or how to access it.

It was like a cat toy under the sofa; the more I tried to reach for it, the more it evaded me.

I could never quite grasp it…

But even though I didn’t know what it was and I couldn’t grasp it, I had a sense that what was missing was the best part of me.

There was a glow to it and a wonderful sense of lightness and freedom.

It was alive.

It makes me remember one of the worst comments a teacher could leave on my elementary school report card,

“Craig doesn’t work up to his full potential.”

Ugh, I hated that and how my father would lecture me about doing better.

But that’s what this mystery emptiness was; it was the untapped potential within me that desperately wanted to be expressed.
