12 Things People Are Really Saying When They Doubt Your Abilities

I was fortunate to secure employment after prison, which is not an easy task.

I worked the front desk at a gym, making $12 an hour. ⁣I was grateful for the job, but I wanted more.

It wasn’t just more money; it ran deeper than that.

I had a call, a longing, a burning desire for meaning, fulfillment, joy, passion, and to be of service to others.

I knew within my soul my purpose was to help the one person who feels right now, how I once felt.

Because I was drawn to these emotions with the same force as Jupiter’s gravitational pull, I felt called to share my hopes and dreams with a few people.

I shared that I wanted to leave my job.

That I wanted to create my own business utilizing my story, what I experienced, what I learned on my journey through shame, fear, and suicide ideation to be of service to others.

My dreams of publishing a book, being a keynote speaker, and a thought-leader.

⁣Some of the responses I received,

⁣”Don’t forget, you have a criminal record.”⁣

⁣”Do you even know how to write a book?”⁣
