Beyond the 9–5: Reinventing a Meaningful Life
Here’s the thing, maybe your job sucks.
Sure, the paycheck and security are great, but:
- Your boss is toxic.
- You answer emails on the weekend.
- Meetings are pointless, and time sucks.
- The work provides no sense of purpose, meaning, or fulfillment.
- You feel pressure as the days before you are less than the days behind you, and you want to do something that matters — and your career isn’t cutting it.
Far too many people waste their time wishing that the company and the environment will change.
But here’s the thing, even if the company seeks to change, changing corporate culture in a massive entity is like turning a cruise ship.
Don’t waste your time on wishful thinking, and do this instead:
Improve your career by improving your life outside of your career.
Connect with a sense of purpose outside of work; you will transform how you view work.
Your boss will still be toxic, meetings will still suck but:
- With a sense of purpose outside of work comes boundaries. Your time becomes precious, and you’ll be less inclined to answer emails on weekends.
