Conquer Regret: How Embracing Death Can Transform Your Life Now
Regret
The amount of regret we experience at the end of our lives is directly proportional to the disparity between the life we lived and the life we wanted to live.
The more significant the disparity at the end of our life, the deeper the regret.
The problem is, even with the intellectual knowledge of our inevitable death, it’s this intangible notion that’s “out there.”
It’s in the future, and we’re concerned with now, right now.
“I want to feel pleasure, happiness, joy, and all the good stuff right now.”
Our brains are designed to grab the easiest and fastest means by which we can experience what we want.
It’s like being really hungry and grabbing the crappy pre-packaged food with all the delicious fat and sugar we’re craving instead of taking our time and making healthy long-term choices.
Because the negative outcome is “out there.”
But the reality is, it’s not.
Our ending was written the moment we were born — and we don’t know when.
When we grasp for the easy way, we live superficial, meaningless lives, and deep down, we suffer.
