It was early afternoon, the subway platform was quiet. Most people were already wherever they needed to be, and not yet ready to leave wherever they were.
I was waiting for the R, my mind awash in the conversation that had occurred not but 10 minutes ago.
A conversation that had filled me with fear and anxiety, that I was now on the other side of and was now only a memory.
Albeit a strong memory.
I had a lot to digest, I’m grateful my editor suggested we record the conversation so I could go back and review the ninety minutes we had just spent dissecting my manuscript.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see the dark subway tunnel becoming progressively brighter as the subway pulls into the station.
The doors slide open, and I walk into the cool air. I take a seat on the bright orange and yellow bench closest to the door. I like resting my arm on the upright.
