Discovering the Power of Simplicity: Lessons Learned from Post-Prison Reinvention
I used to overcomplicate everything, and often I still do.
Because of old beliefs, like,
“Nothing good comes easy.”
and
“I’m not worthy of amazing things, so I have to make them really complicated so I can “earn” them.”
When I’m in chaser mode, I eschew the simple in favor of the complex to support my limiting beliefs.
When I operate as the creator of my life, I seek the simple.
Simple is clean.
Clean is smooth.
Smooth is effective.
Effective is empowering.
Empowerment fuels intentional, committed progress.
Intentional, committed progress toward a meaningful goal cultivates a sense of mission, meaning, and fulfillment — from which happiness and self-worth flow like a perpetual cistern.
A perfect example: I took Blank Canvas one word at a time, all the way to its publication.
Stop overcomplicating everything and seek simplicity.
