Every Single Choice and Its Corresponding Consequence is Written in The Book of Time for Eternity
I’ve made terrible choices.
Committing fraud against one of the largest tech companies in the world.
Drinking like it was a paying job, and then getting behind the wheel.
Ignoring my heart when it tried to guide me.
I’ve lied to every person I know.
Cheating on girlfriends.
The list goes on, and I’ll spare you.
I can’t change any of them; every single choice and its corresponding consequence is written in the book of time for eternity.
I can’t change them, and nor would I; every single choice has led me to where I am today, writing this, fearing what people will say.
It’s from this place of fear that I can make another choice:
What do I want the next chapter to say?
There is a scene in “American Gods” by Neil Gaiman in which the main character, Shadow, has died and finds himself in front of the gods.
They stand, not moving, in judgment of the man before them. The fate of his soul hinges on their decision.
