Here’s Why Defining Support In a Vacuum is Loaded With Assumptions

I talk a lot about the importance of defining success for yourself.

Not the shoulds, supposed tos, and expectations of others.

Getting clear of your definition is critical to the quality of your life.

But it’s only part of the equation.

You also have to get clear on your definition of “support.”

Namely, as it relates to supporting your family.

This isn’t a definition you can create on your own; this definition needs to be a team effort.

Because you may believe supporting your family means working your ass off to create a luxurious lifestyle.

Maybe to make up for all the things you didn’t have growing up.

Maybe because this is how you’ve been conditioned.

Maybe it’s how you show love.

Here’s the issue:

I’m guessing your spouse and kids view support as being present, fully present, so they feel seen, heard, and understood.

It’s quality time over quality things.

Here’s a harsh truth:

Sitting in the same room with your family but answering emails the whole time isn’t quality time.
