Here’s Why You Need Something That Makes You Come Alive
I fell in love with Metallica’s music during the summer of ’87 at Camp Med-O-Lark in Maine.
But that’s a whole other story I’ll share another time.
I’ve seen them six times in concert, and back when cassettes were a thing, I’d play them so much the tape player would eventually eat and destroy the tape (remember that?).
I reference Metallica in my TEDx and my memoir.
I reference them enough that multiple podcast hosts have inquired about my love for them.
Their music has quite frankly saved my life; that’s another story as well.
This past year I watched an interview with their lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield when he said something that caught my attention.
He was discussing his family life, specifically his wife, and even more specifically about moments when he was not feeling himself and his behavior rippled out negatively to those around him.
His wife would always ask the same thing,
“When’s the last time you played guitar?”
James replies,
“It’s been about four days…”
