I’ve Written the Equivalent of 360 Books. What Do I Have to Show For It?
I’ve written 18,674,894 words since October 7th, 2016.
This is the equivalent of 360 copies of my book, “Blank Canvas.”
Mind you; this only represents one platform. The other platforms I’ve used don’t show me this info, but I’m guessing they account for another few million.
I don’t share this brag — I’m guessing 97% of the words I wrote were crap.
And that’s actually why I’m sharing this.
I may have only yielded a 3% “return” on my effort. If I were managing money, I would suck. I’m barely even keeping up with inflation.
I write every single day. I rarely miss one. And I’ve done this since around 2015.
That’s a lot of commitment and time invested for such a small “return.”
This is where we as a society fall into a terrible trap.
Our investment of time in any project must yield a financial reward, preferably an immediate one.
I’m sick of this belief. It’s bullshit.
When did our inner joy get replaced by money?
I may not have much of a short-term tangible “return” on 18M+ words written, but I have something money cannot and will never match.
