Mastery in Service of Your Calling Will Deliver What You Ultimately Desire
Pursuing mastery in service of our calling is one of many paths to inner peace and emotional freedom.
It’s interesting because the innovator, creator, artist, and craftsmen know deep down in their souls that they will never achieve mastery in their craft.
Nor will they ever say they’ve mastered their craft.
They leave that to the audience, and if what they’ve created is generously granted the title “masterpiece,” they accept the praise and move on.
They punch in the next day, the day after that, and the day after that.
The artist and craftsman enter each new day with the same doubts and fears that were interwoven with every word, brushstroke, and musical note that created their “masterpiece.”
Because mastery for the innovator, creator, artist, and craftsmen isn’t an outcome, it’s a feeling.
And it’s the feeling we pursue.
And since we know mastery is a journey with no end, as long as we keep punching the clock, we’ll never be without that feeling.
Why do we desire that feeling?
What about it exceeds acquiring the next shiny object on our status-seeking materialism list?
