One Simple Question to Break Free From Life on Autopilot
Recently I’ve been looking at the practices I do regularly, some daily, some throughout the week.
Cold showers, meditation, journaling, writing ten ideas a day, writing, working out, hiking, beach walks, etc.
I enjoy these activities, and I get a great deal from them.
But recently, I felt like I was just doing them.
What do I mean by that?
They’ve become such an integral part of my life that I don’t think about them anymore — I just do them.
Before going to prison, I lived on autopilot.
My life was one of mindless routines. I didn’t feel like I was in command of my life and my time.
I was on the golden treadmill, going along for the ride, chasing all the things I thought I had to chase to be happy.
It was a meaningless and unfulfilling way to live life.
There are many gifts I received from going to prison.
One of them is an appreciation of time.
I believe you can’t fully comprehend and appreciate something until you experience its direct opposite.
When you feel you’ve lost time, you quickly understand the value, depth, and beauty of time.
