Perfectionism is a Foot Soldier of Fear Keeping You Stuck
Perfectionism is fear of our own humanity and fallibility.
It’s an unrealistic expectation designed to keep us small.
It’s the fear of being seen as less than — the fear of what someone may say.
It’s self-centered and self-punishment under the guise of self-improvement.
Letting go of perfectionism is one of the most liberating things you can do. It’s an act of love and compassion.
It’s freedom.
Freedom from the relentless chasing of something that doesn’t even exist.
Because, what is perfect? Can you even define it for yourself?
No.
Because here’s what happens when you live in perfectionism:
If you somehow manage to attain your definition of “perfect” in whatever you’re doing — something else, some new requirement, some tweak, revision, something/anything comes up. You’re back to the drawing board.
“I’m not quite ready, it’s not 100%, it’s not quite right…”
Because it’s not about achieving perfection, it’s about not being seen, fear of failure, and fear of success.
Nothing will ever be perfect because the underlying fear won’t allow it.
