The Power of Acceptance: Turning Midlife Regrets into Opportunities

You wish you were younger.

You wish you didn’t hate your job.

You wish you had taken that chance on your dreams years ago.

You spend so much time wishing for things to be anything other than they are, and it feels like progress.

The more you fight, the further you feel you’re getting somewhere.

You’re not; if anything, you’re moving backward.

When you wish things were anything other than they are, you’re living in the past.

You lock your future in the past.

Fighting feels courageous, but what’s actually courageous is practicing acceptance.

  • You’re 52 and lost? Good.
  • You hate your career? Good.
  • You didn’t take your shot years ago and feel the sting of regret? Good.

It stings to practice acceptance, but acceptance gives you what you need to create something new in your life.

Acceptance is freedom.

Freedom from the past allows you to write a new future.

Accept whatever you wish was different, that can’t be anything other than it is, and free yourself.
