I believe we’ve been sold two lines bullsh!t.

And these two lines set us up for disappointment.

Bullsh!t Line #1:

Happiness is the ultimate goal of life.

Ask most people what they want, and the most common answer you’ll get is,

“I want to be happy.”

We’ve been conditioned to believe we’re supposed to be happy all the time — that’s the goal.

And if you’re not happy, there’s something wrong with you.

Life is not rainbows and unicorns 24/7.

Bullsh!t Line #2:

There’s a set and accepted blueprint to happiness.

We’ve been conditioned by family, friends, and the zeitgeist to follow a blueprint that promises happiness.

It looks something like this,

“If you grind hard enough, earn enough, and achieve enough status, you’ll win. You’ll be happy.”

We follow this blueprint for half of our lives; we do all the things we’re supposed to do, and we check all boxes:

Climb the corporate ladder
