Why Fighting Your Inner Demons Only Drags You Deeper (and what to do instead)

Limiting beliefs are like quicksand.

The more we fight them, the deeper we go.

When we fight against something, we’re making that thing wrong. If we make that thing wrong, we, in turn, become “wrong” — and the cycle of sinking ensues.

For example, I struggle with feeling worthy of my success.

If I fight and struggle against this feeling of unworthiness, I fall deeper into it.

When I stop fighting it, making myself “wrong,” and instead accepting how I feel with love and compassion, I transform my experience.

I say to myself,

“Yes, this is how I feel, and there’s nothing wrong with it.”

I immediately feel liberated, and I now have the opportunity to pull myself out.

We can’t change what we can’t accept.

My memoir, “Blank Canvas, How I Reinvented My Life After Prison” is available on Amazon.

“Blank Canvas” is for anyone trapped in prison cells of unworthiness, inadequacy, shame, regret, and fear who want to free themselves so they can reinvent their lives with courage, purpose, meaning, freedom, and peace.
